ok guys, what loads are you using in the 6.5x47lapua 8 twist in the criterions? want to shoot 130 grain bullets. thanks
Guy over at demigodllc said RL-15 is THE powder for the 6.5x47 but didn't give any load data. 6mmbr did a review of a tactical rifle with some load data. You going with a 6.5x47?

Who cares, with a 500 yard group like that you can shoot off anything you want.

I'm shooting a 26" 20 Practical. The bore is perfect- took almost no time to break in with very, very little fouling. As far as accuracy I just can't seem to break 1/4" @ 200 yards but it will shoot in the .3s and 4s all day at that range.

don't you think using bench rest setup might produce tighter pattern?

I love my 6.5 x 47 Lapua ( two CBI barrels from Jim) I have had decent luck with the 140 nosler custom comp. When this deployment is over I plan to really build a database for the 6.5 since data is very sparse online.
+1 on the daughter, Mine set me up about a year and a half ago, "Daddy, why don't you build something in a lighter caliber""Daddy, why not use that stock instead"" Daddy, you need a really good scope"" Daddy, it needs it's own pelican case"
I never seen it coming :) :) :) :) :)
Now a savage tgt action with a 22BR barrel, HRT Bench stock and a sightron 8-32 scope sits in a new pelican case UNDER my daughters bed.
Thank goodness wifey doesn't have the addiction

Wow. I need to ask my girls if they would like a set up like that. I am sure I can get the youngest one to say she wants one too.

Danley - I can offer you a 6mm blank configured as you request. Easiest way to do this is by phone - 763/682-4296.
Mattri - Criterion currently offers two versions of the 6.5X55 - Standard chamber and a Match chamber with a longer throat for 140/142 grain target bullets.

Jim, do they make 260 with Match chamber to handle long 140 - 142 gr bullets?

Jinx,
The freebore on the 260 could be just a tad longer. Having said that after about 150+ rounds the sharp corners do radius just enough to allow normal seating with most 260 140-142 gr loads.

Excellent information Jim, thanks. Do you havew any opinions, or have you heard any feedback that recommends the 6.5x47 over the 6.5x55 or .260 for shooting the 140s?
