thanks for the input texasshooter sounds alittle crazy but there is only 1 match around here i am want to go to the 80 gr pills for you shoot 100 yds and work out to 1000yds and it has a 223 only class in it other then that it would be used for 300-500 yds which 75gr heads would work fine .

Do you guys think an 8 twist .300 AAC Blackout would be a popular CBI prefit lets say in a threaded muzzle 16.5" to 18" barrel length. I like CBI's fit, finish, turnaround time and Jim Briggs too much to take my business anywhere else. Everytime i search for anything .300BLK on midway or brownells everything is sold out. I feel like it would be popular, but maybe it i in my own brain. What do yall think?

I don't get all the hype over the 300 aac blackout? It's accuracy was crappy least to say Savage scrapped their plans to chamber their Model 10 PC it cause the were not gonna put their name on anything that was not accurate!

its an american alternative to a communist intermediate cartridge. It uses true dimensional .308 cal bullets and is conducive for low recoil, sufficient stopping power, and suppressors (in applicable areas) Yes there are much more efficient cartridges, but i have a .223 bolt face remmy needing a caliber acceptable for a multipurpose hunting/ cheapish plinker for my wife. I am not willing to change bolts.

I believe they said they cancelled it because they were concerned about subsonic load accuracy weren't they? The faster lighter loads were fine but most people who love the 300 AAC are loading or buying and shooting for subsonic.

I will just stick with the 308 Win. Y'all probably have not seen the kind of hogs we have here in Texas lol! Recoil is not a prob for me! Mostly shoot 300 wsm cause most shots are 300 plus yards in wheat fields!

Of all the problems to have... hogs would be kinda fun : ) unless you were a farmer : (

Anyone shooting a 6mmBR Criterion prefit? trying to find a good load and only having so so luck with the 105 A-Max. Loading into the Lands with RL-15 and Varget and just been inconsistent with some flyers. More vertical with Varget.

Thanks

Mine is a 28" Varmint with a 8 twist, mine shoots great with 58gr V-Max over Varget and a CCI Primer. First group I ever shot with the barrel was a .321" 5-shot at 100yds.

I also tried some Sierra 100gr Spitzers for light hunting use and was getting groups in the .500" range at 100yds loading with Varget and CCI.

No trouble with flyers though.

PM me for any specific data, but I had good luck with the 58's and Varget so haven't tried much else.

FYI - to you 6MM long rangers. email and reply below regarding 7.5 twist barrels

Gent’s – have you considered these faster twist for the 243, 243AI and 6XC savage replacement barrels?
Need 7.5 to run 115 DTAC’s.
Have had no success from 1:8’s.
If you offered it, I am sure some of the long range shooters would buy it.

Let me know what you think, as I was planning on calling Rock or Krieger.

Regards
Kelly

Hello Kelly,

We are in the midst of tooling up for the 7.5 twist. Should have some blanks ready in about 2-3 months. If you'd like to place an order, please contact our distributor, Jim Briggs (763) 682-4296.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Thank you,

Stephanie

Good Afternoon Boots,

I had similar results with the 105 VLD's out of my 1-8 Criterian 6BR 28" Bull Barrell. But once I tried the 108's, all is well. I'm shooting them .0020" off the lands in front of 29.7 Gr of Varget. I shot a 2.5", 5 shot group with them at a local 600 yard BR shoot.

well the 223wylde 1-8t barrel i got from jim is going to be a shooter breaking it in with junk bullets i had(different bullet weights, types,to much ogive measurements ect) was holding around 3/4" -1" with me cleaning the bore after everyshot then shoot 4 clean and so on the patches came out good with hardly any copper.

Definetly would be interested in 7.5 twist for a 243 AI

Well right after I got that email, a buddy called me and had found a 7.5 twist Kreiger in stock.
Got it at the house now. Will get it chambered 243 AI and going soon.

Hope to see the 7.5 twist listed for the Criterion prefits soon. I will give them a try next time.

Kelly

I have been shooting 80g berger match varmint over Varget in my 26" CBI 6BR and have been getting consistent .3-.4's (It would probably do better with someone better than me behind it). Havent tried anything heaver than that yet

I think you will find that is pretty darn close to where they shoot...

My cbi 26" 243rem won its first bench match this last saturday. The match was 100 & 200 yd bench match. 2 groups of 5 shots each at each range.....so 20 shots total.

This is with no load development. I picked a load out of the book for the velocity i wanted and chronoed to test velocity just so i can dope my turrets for long range.
Its 37.1gr 3031 w hornady vmax 87gr pills in rem neck sized brass and fed gold match primers. Seated to the books recommendation which is 2.650 i think.

Here are the results. Im towards the bottom. #6 shooter listed as brian. my buddy Jerry in the top portion was my only serious contender.l....and i barely beat him. He does extensive load testing with his savage model 25 in 204rem.

These were shots 101-121 on this barrel. No break in period. I did clean the bore though. Thanks.

Finally got a pic of my target. Top two were shot from left to right at 100 yds. Middle and bottom left were shot at 200yds in the same format....middle first then bottom left. The scores above were tabulated the same way.
