Just an update, Brenda shipped another 21 barrels with UPS last night. She calls everybody with the news about their orders so if you did not get "The Call" yet your order has not shipped. Criterion is back logged on certain calibers because the reamers have been very slow in arriving. The 20 Vartarg and the short throat 204 Ruger being the last to show up. The 22-250 AI, 6.5X55 Swede and the short throat 284 Winchester are due in any day now and we can get caught up on a few of the delayed orders.

For those of you that missed the pricing change notice, Criterion pricing will change effective September 1st.

Thought I'd post my results. Sorry no pics for now.

28" 260 rem bull barrel 1:8. 100gr NBT 3400+fps. One ragged hole.

120AMAX again 1 ragged hole at 3003fps avg. I have more to go but why raise pressure if you don't have to?

140AMAXs were terrible with 4350. velocity was 2720-2790. Gonna retry and increase charge and also dump some 4831 and see if it tightens up.

140BTHP from hornady were also bad. I have ogive issues with these and need to call them for replacement.

When I say bad and terrible I am talking a little over 1.25".

I am completely satisfied with this barrel and plan on adding a 223 1:8 in the future or punch it 22-204:)

Today I did break in on my new CBI barrel, I got 2 barrels from Jim, one in 6BR 30" bull and 26" varmint in 260, today I tested 6BR. Basically I did one shot clean for 5 shots, then fired 25 rounds without cleaning it. I load 30 rounds using 100 gr Hornady Interlocks, 105 gr A-Max, 87 gr V-Max also I had 105 gr Barnes Match Burners. With V-max I did one shot clean, then I fired Barnes MB:

then A-Max:

and I finished with Interlocks, they gave biggest fliers, but they are not match bullets.

and another group using Interlocks

http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/3241/cbi6mmnorma9.jpg

after firing all those groups without cleaning the barrel it had just little copper embedded

http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/1918/cbi6mmnorma5.jpg

it only took 4 passes with KG-2 and a patch to clean all out:

Thanks again Jim!

Just got off the phone with Criterion. To anyone who is interested, they have received the new 6.5x55 reamer with a more traditional throat. Neal @ Criterion said they just chambered and muzzle threaded my barrel today and it will go out on Monday to Jim @ NSS. I can't wait! I'll be sending it off to be Nitrided if everything looks good with the barrel.

Regards,
-Dan

I didn't even know they chambered for the swede. What throating options do they have available?

I attached a Scotch brite (red one) to a rotary sander and matted mine. Looks nice.
It went from this

From what I understand, they had the long gradually sloping throat, circa 1894 Swedish Mauser. They recently got a reamer for a more modern throat, which is set up for 140 grain bullets.

Rocca,

i really like that finish! Im gonna have to try it on my 22-250ai build as everything is stainless and it would save me $50 in having to have it bead blasted for a matte finish!

Nice rifle by the way!

I was testing new loads for my 260 barrel and grasshopper landed just below my target dot, so I took a shot and grasshopper no more ;)

Alright I was shooting at the top target and while I was aiming, I saw one of those grasshoppers they sort stay in the air for a few seconds, so this one end up right below lower target dot, it was head-shot I think.., looks like head print on paper. Maybe it was locust, can't tell now 139gr Lapua Scenar did him right ;D

the lower target was shot using different bullets, they were 120gr Sierra Pro Hunter
