Thanks boiler man but what I meant was what can be ordered not whats in stock, Jim only orders fast twist barrels for stock and I want slow twist so I can feed my obsession for velocity.

GA Cop ... Whats your length to the lands with different bullets? Wanting the same barrel as you have but trying to determine what it's throated for.

I can give you my results on OAL to the lands but your rifle/barrel will be different so use my info as a general guideline. I'll post the data when I'm back home.

120 gr Nosler B.T. 2.166" to the lands (TTL)

120 gr A-Max 2.120" TTL

120 gr SMK 2.153" TTL

140 gr Nosler Match BTHP 2.174" TTL

140 gr A-Max 2.133 TTL

140 gr SMK 2.157" TTL

your mileage may vary. I head spaced with a piece of brass, not a HS gauge.

Any chance of getting custom lenghts? (20" or 22" etc). I'd be interested in a .308 but sure as heck don't need 26 inches to get to 800yds.

I can offer Criterion Barrels in all legal lengths from 16" on up to 30".

On another note, I just dropped off another batch of Criterion Barrels with UPS this afternoon. Brenda has given customers "The Call". We have gotten the backlog down to about 1 1/2 weeks or less at this time.

I'm relieved to say the scope was the problem. Swapped the Vortex for a Mueller of known consistent performance and groups immediately closed up to under MOA at 100 yards. I tried 36.8 grains of RE-17 with a 140 gr A-Max, 140 Nosler Match BTHP and a 140 SMK. So far, the A-Max is shooting the tightest at .633". The Nosler had one flyer on the last shot ruining a nice.640" group (I think I got overly excited that the barrel was finally performing) opening the group to 1.013". The SMK grouped .698" with four in .545". No bragging groups but at least it's starting to perform with first try loads. The barrel now has 112 rounds fired through it. Looks like I'll need to test the 120s again.

Not to derail this thread but I found RL-17 doesn't shoot nearly as nice as H4350 in my .260 (28" McGowen barrel), and didn't get me the velocity gain either (unlike my 6.5x47L, which gains an honest 125-150fps with RL-17 versus H4350). My most accurate RL-17 load with a 140 Berger HPBT-LR was 41.5gr.

What about the 25 calibers? I could see a 250AI or 25 WSSM in my future ....

Are Criterion barrels offered in all krieger contours?

northlander

Criterion Barrels are now offered in the following contours:
Bull Barrel - 1" at 28" - slightly over at 26" - slightly under at 30"
Varmint Barrel - .8 at 26" - slightly under at 28"
Lite Varmint (new offering) - .7 at 26" - tradional Varmint style taper
Heavy Sporter - .7 at 26" - matches Savages Magnum Contour, tapered and then straighter to the muzzle
Sporter - .600 at 22" - can be extended to 24" if desired

Both Criterion and I feel that these contours are more than adequate for your barrel contour choices.

Are Criterion barrels available in 22-250 Ackley Improved as yet?

Thanks in advance,

Bob,
Criterion has a 20 Vartarg and a 22-250 AI Reamer coming in as soon as they can be made. Both of these calibers will be added to their list of available calibers as soon as the reamers are ready to go. You can place an order for either of these calibers at this time. Criterion will move your order through their shop right up to the chambering point and as soon as they have their new reamers tweaked they will finish off your barrel.

20 caliber barrels are production at this time. I expect to see finished barrels any day now.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for the heads up on the new chamber offerings. I will give you a call to place the order for the 22-250 AI later today and to arrange payment. Wow, I'm getting excited already!

What's the average wait times for these barrels and can I have it threaded and fluted?

Hi Jim,
Several weeks back, I ordered a couple of barrels from you. One was a Shillen 26"
bull 1-8 twist .223 wilde, The other was a Criterion 28' bull 1-10 twist .308 win.

The Shillen barrel has performed as expected, printing dime size groups at 100 yards.
Keep in mind, that was using 55 grain Blitzkings while fire forming new brass, haven't
gotten to testing the heavier match bullets yet.

The real surprise to me was how well the Criterion barrel is doing. I admit, I was
skeptical about purchasing it because I was unfamiliar with the name, but it's
performance is proving to be phenomenal!

Attached is a picture of the finished rifles (with Sharp shooter stocks), the .308 is on
top.

The other picture is from a group of test loads for the .308. That is a 5 shot group from
100 yards, and yes, that's .504 inch outside diameter. The group is using 175 grain Match
Kings, BL-C (2) powder, CCI BR2 primers, and Lapua brass (fire formed) AND I'm getting
similar results (under 3/4 inch) from several different velocities, as well as similar
results using Varget powder! AND I still need to fine tune the COAL (currently .015 off
the lands), as well as the powder charges and torque settings on the action screws.

Needless to say, I will be recommending the Criterion barrels to anyone who will listen
and of course, if I can, I will send them to you.

Thanks for all of your assistance and fine products. With your help, as well as Lisa and
Fred's at sharpshooter, I have a couple of amazing rifles that will hopefully help my son
and I snag a few trophies.

Thanks again,
John O'Sullivan
