saw your other post 1/4@ 200 WOW ! gotta love the 20 cals !
I have a criterion 20 vartarg, it will shoot 3/8-1/2 (that is inch, not minutes) @ 200 with 40 v max 19.5 AA2200 450 CCI @3550.
Just makes ya smile. I am very pleased with my Criterion barrel.
haven't even tried 39 bk's yet. If I get the same improvement (39 Blitzking over 40 v max) as I have seen in other 20's, Wow!!!
Is it spring yet?

Thank you Jim for this valuable information! I had about 150 rounds through my barrel, not counting cream of wheat shots. So I'll check my max seating depth, it might increased already. I'll post my results when I'm done.

sgtg,
Don't know if you mean the post on Saubier.com but yes the 20 finally broke the 1/4" mark at 200 yards. A buddy of mine was spotting for me and my wife was there as well which was nice. It was absolutely more luck than skill, I have plenty of ruined groups to prove that.

Point being the Criterions are a great barrel at a great price and Jim is fantastic to deal with.

Using 139 gr Lapua Scenar, the measurements I took today are exactly the same as they were prior, now I have to go through my load book and account for every shot, maybe I didn't fire as many shots as I thought... Anyway I developed load using this 139 Scenar, which consistently holds 25 seconds or less, so I'm happy. ;)

I got my 7mm-08 24" light Varmint barrel and started on some load testing. So far I have 21 rounds down the tube and things are getting great. My current load work up using 162 amax and H4350. Pretty happy so far with this barrel, cant wait to get my Criterion 30-06 barrel.

I'm working with an ocw charge, shot at 100 meters.

Jim,

Is it possible to get different twists? I'm looking for a .243 in a 7 or 8 twist.

Thanks

Has anyone here talked to Jim about the freebore in the 6BR or Dasher?

Not I, but its something I'm curious about as well... my current Dasher may be entering the home stretch, and I'm considering a new tube from Criterion when it finally dies.

About 8 weeks ago I ordered a small shank .223 Wylde 8-twist from Jim. He said it'd take about 8 weeks to show up, and that's how long it took, it arrived this AM. I installed the barrel, and fired off 10 quick shots at 100 yards to check function and get it sighted in. It looked to be shooting well under 1 MOA right off the bat. Then I neck-sized the 10 fired cases and loaded them with Sierra 69's and RL15, and sat down for a semi-serious attempt at some groups. The first five shot group measured .364", and that included the cold bore shot that went a tick high. The next 5 measured .660" but I completely muffed a shot, I aimed at the bullet hole(s) instead of my target dot. Throwing the bad shot out, the other 4 went into .188". Am I happy? You betcha. I realize it won't always shoot that well, but it appears to be a genuine 1/2 MOA barrel or better. I can't wait until the corn is off and my 800 yard range is open to try out the heavier bullets. Thanks Jim and Criterion! I will buy more.

I have a Savage screw on Criterion Match Grade Bull barrel in 6.5x47 Lapua on a Gary Eliseo S1 chassis. The barrel is topped off with a JP muzzle. At first the groups were all over the place with no signs of coming together. I was reading what others were reloading and followed along. I ended up being below what seemed normal. Final load RL-15 @ 37.0 gr., Laupa Brass, Hornady 120 A-max jammed in the lands (it likes being jammed with all types of bullets). Results: at 200 yards, 4 and 5 shot groups inside/covered by a dime/penny. Jim's advice was correct. Good barrel for the money. Cleans up well. Have 150 rounds through the barrel. Did break-in procedure for 30 rounds, then shot another 20 and cleaned. Have not cleaned it since. Shoots very well, took 3rd in recent competition.

I'm on week 12, and still waiting. Lots of barrel were ordered. My 7mm-08 Criterion shoots so well. I'm ready to start building my long range 30-06.

Hey Jim,
Do you think you will ever offer any.22br no turn and 30br barrels?

I ordered a creterion and was told it is a match chamber? He diddn't say if it was a no turn neck or any detail's about the chamber. I know some chamber's are cut for lapua brass etc etc...
