If you can post some pictures that would help with an ID! From what I can find, it was after 1951 or later. http://www.savage99.com/savage99_dates.htm
Savage didn't start chambering in .308 until the early 60's.
Hello, new to the forum. Finally purchased a Model 99 in .308 cal. Took me 40 years to finally get one.
The gun will be used for hunting.
The serial number is not on the bottom of the receiver but on the side running length ways towards barrel.
Number is A714426.
Can anyone shed some light on the new toy?
which model, approximate year, ect... Any information would be great.
Thanks in advance.
Mike

I hunted with a scoped 1960s 99 in .308 Win. A very good rifle, accurate and easy to carry. The ammo is readily available and will reach out to 250 yards with no problem. I used the 150 grain Nostler tip on blacktail deer.
