I tried h 1000 in a regular 25-06 with 115 vld's and never could find a decent load for it.
I have a 25-06AI that has just shot the 100 SMK with RL22 so well. I thought I'd try some Berger 115VLD's. I would like to try H1000 with it. Does anybody have a H1000 115VLD load they would like to share? The gun is a Savage action with a 26" savage SS barrel punched out to AI. 10 Twist. Any other loads with other powders for the 115VLD also appreciated.

Thanks for the heads up Stu. I won't be buying another box of the 115's if I can't find a load in 100 chances. They are the most expensive Berger bullets I have ever bought. I and have bought a lot of Berger's now. I will also try H-4831sc and RL22 for sure.

I had good luck with RL19 and 115 vld's. I was getting 3110 fps and just a little over .6 moa accuracy... That was with a 26 in. Shilen barrel and standard 25-06 chamber.
Stu
Thanks again Stu. the AI should throw'em out the barrel like a lazer.

I use max loads of reloader 19 with CCI BR primers in my standard 25-06 with 115 vld's. Getting about the same performance as Stu.

Thanks Ed. I guess RL19 might be a place to look.

it's a good start. Dont forget to give 22 a look also. Have had some nice results with that too.

RL22 is the powder that is shooting the 100 SMKs so well for me now with that barrel. I sure will give that a try. I have read about people shooting the 6CM and the 6mm LR and getting 2,500 -3,000 round barrel life using H1000, so I thought I would give it a try. The fact that is slow, could mean that RL22 should also work as well as H1000. It is probably the shoulder on those cases that is making the difference though, in how they are directing where the gases are concentrated in the throat. I suspect the AI versions of the .243 and the 25-06 could also benefit?

Hey Thorbird, I've had three 25-06's, and a bullet that i've had excellent results from in all of them. Is the Speer 120 gr. btsp with Rl 19. Accuracy was as good or better than with the 115 vld's. And to the best of my memory i was getting about the same velocity as the Bergers out of the Shilen barrel. I'd look it up ,but, i threw away my load data for the Shilen after i sold it.
Stu
That is great to know Stu.

I have all sorts of load data using 25-06 AI and 115 Berger VLDS. I've tested h-4831sc, IMR-4831, IMR-7828SC, RL-22, RL-19, RL-17, Retumbo, H-1000. I can email you my info if you have open office. It's my long range deer gun, 3425 FPS shoots still is going 2000 FPS @ 1000 yards with 1000 ftlbs of energy. Damn this is a lazer, 200 yard 0 and I only dial up 6.8 MOA @ 600 yards and 16.3 MOA @ 1000.
i would also like this info please. going to rebarrel the 300 winn to 25-06AI.looks like im going with a shilen barrel.Originally Posted by Nitroused383
Nitro, Sorry that I just saw your post, been away a while. Yes, the 25-06ai is one amazing round, that long neck is part of its accuracy. I unforunetly just sold it to apache to fund soo many other things, but I may end up with another one someday.
parkj5, I have 25-06ai brass and dies, bullets, and gauges, etc. that I can make a deal for you on since I won't be using them anytime soon, so they need to go to a good home. I bet your shilen barrel will be a shooter, I had great success with them.

Sorry I forgot to get back to this thread, been awhile since I've been on this site. All my info is on another computer at the moment. When I get back from Elk hunting I can email anyone the file who is interested.
Stu, if I remember right I ended up with your Shilen 25-06 barrel. That thing does shoot little tiny groups. 100 gr SMK over 53.5 gr of RL-22. Don't know the velocity but the accuracy is 3/8 moa.
Glad you're satisfied with it Kyle. ;D

Here's a pic of how she looks now.
