I'm seeing what I think are 2 holes which would make the mount your looking for a Weaver T-1 but as for being factory I'm not to sure.
I've never collected data on the model 23's so I can't even make an educated guess on the time it was made.
Howdee folks,
This is my first post in the savage forums. So much to see here.
Today I purchased my first vintage Savage and I could not be more excited. It is a model 23b (22 hornet). It is is 95% or better condition with perfect screws all around and it is factory original. I cant wait to clean it up and get all around photos.
Naturally I hope to find a factory scope mount and proper scope for it. Could someone point me in the right direction?
I am also very curious to know the date of manufacture. sn 2179--.
Regards Dylan
A bit about me:
I live in Idaho and have been collecting, trading and selling firearm related items and military vehicles. I appreciate most anything pre 1980 in design that is American made. Mostly have been interested in Smith & Wesson and Ruger revolvers along with Marlin Lever guns (until now . I spend my time discovering the great collections in the Idaho, Montana and Oregon area. I manage a group called Old Arms of Idaho.
