It's a matter of too much demand and the inability to supply that demand.

Right now Savage is running at maximum capacity and are still having a hard time keeping up with all the orders they have. As such they've decided to eliminate some of the lower-volume models to free up some space in the production schedule to manufacture more of the much higher volume models.

I would also speculate that the introduction of the Axis put a big dent in the sales of left-hand 110-series models, because we all know how cheap those LH Savage owners can be. lol
