It's the same model as the Savage/Stevens model 94, a utility brand shotgun.
Not sure what the "Jim BBrown" is all about but from what I can find it was just a run of the gun, no purpose to the name.
I have a side by side 20 gauge which I inherited from my grandfather. This is my favorite grouse gun. I'm trying to learn more about it.
On the side of the receiver in cursive handwriting it states "Jim Brown" and then printed "GUARANTEED SHOTGUN"
on the other side of the receiver it states: "5000"
on the top of the barrels: "SELECTED FORGED STEEL"
and
"PROOF TESTED 20 GAUGE"
inside the receiver is serial # C23460
Someone once said this was made by Stevens and sold through a catalog, but I'm not sure about that. There is a stamp on the underside of the barrel, I'm wondering if this is a date stamp? (see pictures). Looks like a big deep "7" inside a circle but having trouble making the rest of it out.
Looking for help identifying:
- The manufacturer of this gun
- Model
- Year made
- If any manuals/diagrams exist for this gun
Thanks

Thanks for the input!
