The feather weights aren't flimsy, they just aren't solid wood up front like the standard version; They are very skelotonized.
The issue I had with them, the stock is SO thin, that heavy use/abuse, you can rip out the sling stud.
Wonder if any of you have tried the boyds feather light laminated stock?. I have the regular thumbhole and it is perfect for what I wanted –stiff and a great stock. I am just trying to find a lighter one for my other savage and was hoping after bedding it would be as stiff on the forearm as the normal thumbhole.
Thanks in advance.

I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.
Laminated wood is heavy - no way around it - and even skeletonized more often than not it's still going to be as heavy or heavier than a non-skeletonized hardwood (maple or walnut) version of the same stock.
