What do you mean behind the trigger? The 1899's were never designated behind the trigger. Sounds like just a assembly mark or proof mark to me.
Out of those 20 guns how many are 1895's?
I have 20 95-99's in my collection, 1895 to 1939...been collecting and shooting them 10 years...looking at what appears to be an H model, 303, takedown, all numbers match, special order steel butt, straight stock, 22" barrel (should be 20" according to Murray)...what seems unusual is that the model mark behind the trigger is an "S" which I have not seen before (Murray only mentions the RS which is much later)...any suggestions on what the "S" designates would be appreciated, Charles Wood
