I ordered a Match/Target Rimfire stock from Sharp Shooter Supply a while back. It was a custom order with an Anschutz rail in the forearm and inletted for the Williams peep sight on my Mark II FVT. Laminate stock in (Savage) red and (Savage) black.
A long skinny cardboard box arrived yesterday and I opened it up and unwrapped the new stock.
Now I have a bit of a dilemma...
Do I put my rifle's action/barrel in the stock, and use it to shoot in competition?
Or do I hang it on the wall as a work of art?
I mean, it is so gorgeous and so perfect that I need to get some brass poles and velvet rope and museum lights to put around it so that no one touches it.

I'm going to give it a tung oil finish, probably 10-12 applications, then maybe a beeswax on top of that.
Then I'll install the action/barrel, the handstop, and the sling before the first Mini-Palma match on June 1.
Then I'm going to clobber this site with photos.
Like a lot of the girls back in high school, u talk about showing it then just leave us with nothing but imagination. Atleast a pic in the raw to hold us over?

Had SSS install an Anschütz rail for me. They could have just slapped in the raw stock rail with square end cuts, but noooo...
Notice how they filed, sanded, and shaped the front of the rail to match the fore end.
Can't wait to finish this project and take it to the range.

Believe it or not, but I love the AccuTrigger.
Took some new photos of the finished rifle...
A view of the underside, showing how SSS reshaped the rear of the Anschütz rail to match the style of the rest of the stock. Notice also the Randall Williams (Aziza) single round adapter in place of the magazine.
Took it to the range and slinged it up with a new stiff leather sling for some sighting in, in case the zero changed with the new stock (it didn't).
What's great about this stock, as far as prone position target shooting is concerned, is how stiff it is compared to the original Savage FVT plastic stock. It also weighs about twice as much, which helps for a steadier hold. Also, the bottom of the fore end is a lot deeper (see how it extends down in front of the trigger).
It feels perfect. It works perfect. I'm in love with it.
Have a Gehmann rear sight iris backordered to replace the too-large .050 rear aperture. Also scored three bricks of Wolf match ammo. This rifle is going to rock and roll!
wow, that is a helluva 22lr!! I wish I could find some wolf match for my custom 10/22 target rifle.
The stock looks great. I'm waiting for a stock from SSS right now. How long did it take from the time you ordered until the time it was finished. I have been waiting for 5 months.
