I could prolly explain how I got to this point....but then, it would be like writing a book the size of war and peace.....and you true Savage die-hards would laugh so hard that your tears would flood your homes.....and then you would attempt to file a claim against me for rusting your rifles!!!!

But.....I am currently sitting here with a very nice and very accurate Shilen barrel in 6.5x55 Swede (is there any other caliber?) in a hunting contour. Also, I have a very nice Savage short action Laminated stock. Now, at one point these two components were held together by a single shot receiver....which is now holding the same caliber Shilen Bull barrel while being cradled in a Bell & Carlson stock. (Another very accurate combo!!)

So.....what I'd like to do is just buy a Savage long action....and here comes the question part.....and "Drill out" the factory laminated stock to fit the long action into it. Now, I have access to my shootin buddy's wood shop that has all the goodies. You know the type.....table saw.....Forsner bits......a drill that actually drills square holes (If I didn't see it, I never would-a believed it).....routers......jointer\planers.....Harley Motorcycles (Well...I think these are for photos of his "wood porn"...:))

BTW.....I want to get a long action with a magazine so I can have a follow up shot, or be able to chamber one quickly. Not for me of course.....but when my hunting buddies place bad shots on their Antelopes. Yeah.....that's it.

So....can I just move the front screw? Drill out the front magazine box? And I know for sure I can "plug" any existing holes and make 'em look like they were never there.

Thoughts?
