They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
I also am a fan of the 7mm Rem Mag. I have one of the Savage 112 BVSS stainless rifles in that caliber so I appreciate the setup. The 7 mag is about as much as I can hold onto anymore but it is plenty for anything you want to do inside 1000 yards.
Does this really have less felt recoil than a comparable 30-06? I've always found that the 06 seems to lick a bit less in comparable guns.
Sweet rig! How does she shoot?
I am sure part of my "less felt recoil" is the weight of the rifle and scope being about 13 pounds. I also load for 162 grain bullets with R22 so it doesnt bark like some loads might. I was getting 5/8" groups when I was shooting it a lot. The "standard" 30-06 loads are 180 grain and maybe a little more stout than what I should in my magnum. I have a 6.5 x 47 Lapua that I have been messing with lately.
It has very low recoil but the barrel is also a 30" bull barrel! I have not put the rifle on a scale but it is very heavy, maybe in the 20+ pound range.

If anyone was wondering, those are weaver skeleton scope rings. They work great and are only about 20 bucks.
After shooting this rifle for a bit, I have found the recoil to be around the 243. However, one should never shoot this rifle without a good muzzle break.
I took the rifle out to a good 600 yard range in Swainsborow, GA. There I got a 3/4" group at that range.
