I'm no expert shooting at all, but i think i know alittle. I just wanna see what the riffle is doing for others, here is my set up;
Distance - 50yrds (i know 100yrds is a better comparison)
Caliber - .223
Sight - Scope BSA 3-9x50mm(which is why i shot at 50yrs)
Round/shots - Fiocchi Extrema 50gr. V-Max bullet(223HVA50)/ took 5 shots.
Group - .75" with one slight flyer

I have a 308 and 270 which I did stock stiffening routines on. My 270 shoots a bit better than my 308--not sure why, but my observation is that these are lightweight flexible setups for calibers that deliver significant recoil--the whole challenge for me has been keeping the weapon still during shooting. I've started taking Zen-master Yoga classes so I can figure out how to hold the rifle without actually touching it. : )
50 yds is a tad close for comparison--what do you get out to 100?

Here is one of my groups:
.223 Axis (only custom is a Rifle Basix Sav-1 Trigger)
69gr Sierra HPBT
CFE223 Powder
Remington 7 1/2 BR primers
100yrds
Had one flier also...I think everyone has these :p

Mine shoot just fine as long as I have both eyes open & my blood pressures's not too high & it's not too windy & the moon is full & saturn is in transition &......
They will shoot fine with a little TLC & a few minor modifications.

:) funny that you make Star Wars references because I just finished watching all 6 just yesterday, seriously no joke! I've only had the opportunity to shoot at the 50 yard! But I do plan to shoot at the 100 yard soon enough.

That was my 4th group of 3 shot groups and some how I ended up with 4 rounds left. I have since tried to stick with 5-shot groups.
Don't know what I was thinking when I was loading them....

Frank sorry I missed you last week while I was in Orlando, had late meetings all week and then the weather did not cooperate at all!
I got the 25-06 barrel and plan on putting it on a donor rifle I have this weekend....Hope it shots as well as yours.
Sorry for the small Hi-Jacking.....:focus:

Just be one of those try-hard competition bench rest shooters. All they do is pull the trigger.

Nice shooting gents.
To the OP...50 yards isn't anything...not trying to be disrespectful, but that distance is what I use to get rounds on paper.
I probably won't shoot my Axis until Spring...I've decided to purchase PTG go/no go gauges for my 300blackout and MidwayUSA won't have them for another month or two.

This is a 12 round clip from my LRT SASS at 100 yds shot in maybe 2.5 minutes. This is pretty ho-hum for an LR 308--so far I haven't been able to do this with my Axis 308 but I keep tryin. : )http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s388/triggerpull/imagejpeg_3.jpg

Hey Therm....
12 rounds, 2-1/2 minutes at 100 yds...... That's the best you could do?
I figured you for a 12 round / one hole sorta guy... Well , alright. We'll give you this one. I mean, 2-1/2 minutes, you were kinda rushed so I guess you did pretty good.
Actually it take me 2-1/2 minutes to loosen up my arthritis so I can pull the trigger 12 times in an hour.
Nicely done.

LOL--yep I should be able to do better--other guys get .5 MOA's out of theirs--but that's with a 5 shot group. My AR is the opposite of my savage, it seems, the warmer it gets the better it shoots. My SASS is a hefty 15 pounds or so fully-decked out--but it stays put and absorbs recoil very well so getting back on target is much faster than with my Axis. I feel I could do much better with my Axis if I could just keep it still while shooting--I'm still working on that.
Here's my zeroing target at a hundred yards for my Axis 270. After getting the scope dialed in I managed the 5 shot group left of bulls. http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s388/triggerpull/4313edb4.jpg

Is that with a sporter barrel or varmint contour?

Is that with a sporter barrel or varmint contour? It's the stock Savage Axis 270 barrel--I believe it's a sporter, no? BTW--I've been going nuts trying to get good groupings with my Axis 308 but just can't seem to do it. Might be my eyes are so bad I can't focus well with a 3 x 9 at 100 yds--this is with a 6 x 18 buckmaster (I may get another one).
