Nice shooting gents.

To the OP...50 yards isn't anything...not trying to be disrespectful, but that distance is what I use to get rounds on paper.

I probably won't shoot my Axis until Spring...I've decided to purchase PTG go/no go gauges for my 300blackout and MidwayUSA won't have them for another month or two.

I have not yet had a chance to shoot at the 100yrd range. I know it isn't nothing for some to shoot at the 50yrd target, but for me, being the second time shooting this way, I'm pretty happy and feel good and lucky to have done decently. Soon enough I will post some pics of what i can do with a 3-9x50mm scope at the 100yrd target.

Here is the target i shot, recap:

Distance - 50yrds (i know 100yrds is a better comparison)
Caliber - .223
Sight - Scope BSA 3-9x50mm(which is why i shot at 50yrs)
Round/shots - Fiocchi Extrema 50gr. V-Max bullet(223HVA50)/ took 5 shots.

That is very good and is a sure sign of better groupings to come.

Because 50 yds is typically used for rifles for initial zeroing (at least that's what I use it for) at that distance it's typically hard to get a true idea of a rifle's and load's potential since it's so close. Even the "100 yard addiction" has it's limitations as I've found out in the past couple of years. Being anchored to 100 yards is considered the standard for comparison--but it has made me lazy and prevented me from truly doping out scope-craft at varying distances.

Hey therm do you live in s fl ?Maine in the summer and Tennessee in the winter. I'm currently gearing up for my first season of whitetail hunting and still haven't settled on a weapon of choice. Seems like lots of folks on this forum live in FL. : )

No brag ,just fact,GaryWell, if ya like firearms--Tennessee truly is the "patron state of shooting stuff." : ) Where you are looking is a great area for sure (I live in Chattanooga)--I love mountains myself and one reason I could never live in FL--though I do visit often in the winter. If you hunt, make sure you check out the regs for both GA and TN--it's expensive being a resident of one and hunting the other. TN has a funky 3 zone area system and it pays to study it carefully if you want to do some serious harvesting. I'm just finding all this out the hard way as this is my first season and all my buddies that hunt are in GA.

I think it's time for Frank and I to start a riot for shunning the Florida name.

And I'm pretty sure Tennessee is a bit more strict when it comes where you're able to carry compared to Florida.

And I'm pretty sure Tennessee is a bit more strict when it comes where you're able to carry compared to Florida. You guys might have "stand your ground" and we don't--but here you can go into a bar, restaurant and most public places with a conceal unless otherwise posted--can you do that in FL? If you take 24 north to Nashville you'll see giant roadside billboards with AR's, Glocks etc proudly advertised for sale in TN towns--all I ever see in FL is anti-abortion and breast augmentation billboards. : ) Naw, TN is truly the patron state of shooting stuff!

Yes we can do the same also.

drybeanAgreed--but it wasn't me that started this! Anyway, back on topic--I'll try to get out tomorrow and get some new target groupings to post here for you guys to laugh at. : ) My last trip out I put a Center point 4 x 16 scope on my Axis 308 (I just couldn't see well enough with a 3 x 9)--and after about a dozen rounds and getting it zeroed the scope blew itself apart inside--the reticle appears to have been nothing more than a cheap decal which fell off the internal lens. So I've switched the buckmaster off of my 270 and hopefully there will be improvement.
