Thats not a fun job on a 99. Why can't you clean the barrel without pulling the bolt?
Most of the internal parts are easy to get at once the buttstock is removed.
New to this rifle, looking for info on pulling the bolt to clean the barrel. Been you tubing around, saw a few things. Anyone have a favorite video suggestion ?
I've been a Marlin guy for a few years, seen a couple familiar names here. I like this rifle a good bit, looking forward to learning and shooting with it.

Savage- "never say never".
I prefer to clean the barrel from the back end, just a bolt gun and Marlin habit.
Hickok45 has a couple of videos in the Savage 99. One includes disassembly and cleaning. Both are very informative and should give you what you need.

I have a pair of Savage 99's both in .308 and 1957 vintage. One is a 99F. Found the pair of them six months apart after a 25 year search. Great guns that both shoot exceptionally well. More affirmation of Savage's reputation for accuracy.
