Mdt lss.
Looking for advice and options on a lightweight chassis system. I haven't decided whether it will be for a short or long action. The gun will be used for elk hunting, so I'd like to keep it fairly light.
Thanks,
Michael

2nd on the LSS. You must be mindful about what stock hardware you put on the chassis.
They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
They look good from what I can tell. It's the same chassis the stealth comes with correct? I have a McRees on a long action already. I really like it so far, but it is heavier than what in want to carry around the mountains.

You might want to consider a Manners stock, if you're willing to wait ~6 months

The LSS is about as light as it gets and gives you a whole ton of buttstock choices (AR) so you can go as light as you feel works for you. I am actually considering doing just that with a 111 short barrel suppressed and using a folder for hunting in a blind. Light AND small for getting in and out.
Have one on my model 11 in .308. I really like it, especially for the price. I wouldn't call it a lightweight rifle though. I tried to keep the components light but ended up at just over 10lbs. Fit and finish were great and bolted right in slick as can be. I added a polymer rail under the front for bipod attachment, but that weight is without the bipod.
Another vote for MDT, and satisfied customer.

For those of you that are pitching for the MDT, how many of you have hiked in the mountains with them?
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
Not me, that's why I gave a weight on my rifle. I would not sling it up for a long hike. It may be lightweight for an aluminum chassis but it defiantly adds weight over some other options.
XLR Carbon may be another route, they also have more option in terms of lh rh upper/lower release and la/sa, or any combination there of.
