cranebird, perhaps I didn't explain my rechambering enough. It does indeed has a 40 degree shoulder, and the AI body taper. I did not use the reamer that PTG sells for this application. I remember talking about the Shooting Times article where the author bought that reamer. I just call mine iteration the '22-204 RAI'. Cornfusing, I know. However, since I reload this using a .224 universal neck die, I don't have to worry about adhering to any standards......
In addition to a bunch of different 223s I also have an regular Axis I rechambered into 223 AI. I love that rifle. Had I known that Savage was coming out with the HB Axis, I would have purchased that for the basis for my build. I have already purchased and rechambered 2 HB Axis rifles into 22-250 AI and 243 AI.
These rifles are so easy to work with and cheap, it's amazing. One you sort out the god-awful factory triggers, that is. ha ha
