Congratulations on the nice doe and I'm heading out Monday morning to southern Arkansas for the last three days of our rifle season and I have two doe tages left and a buck tag..
I was hunting on the creek bed today. Did not see anything so I took off a few min before 10 as the walk to the car is just a few min. As soon as I put my gun away in the passenger side (we lease the property at both side of road for like a 1/4 mile) to head to the club house and I closed the door I saw this doe pop out of the shoulder. She was probably trying to figure it out what was making all that racket... I thought: "I bet by the time I get my gun it will be gone", I was wrong, the doe was wrong :D so I loaded and shoot it in the neck. Not a single step as usual. I used to always have time to crank the magnification and shoot, loosing view of the target but I am starting to dig shotting with the magnification at the minimum. I can see everythign, the mist and hair explosion and the deer droping. What a rush...
This one is going to my friend that has not been able to hunt this year, I got one more tag but I am holding unless I see a big doe or someone ask me for a complete deer. Otherwise I am just hunting for bucks. Will be at the creek bottom tomorrow, probably will stay a bit past 10...
PS - This doe as well as the first 2 anterless deer was taken usign the hunting loads developed with the help of this forum. Thanks!
