Checkering? Maybe jewelling, or fluting?

I've seen it somewhere. I can't remember what it's called or who does it. The checkering on bolts?

Jeweling! ah yes. Anyone know who does it?
From the photo, the bolt body is from Sharp shooter supply. They have them on their web site.
Sharp Shooter Supply. Send yours in to get "fluted" or order one up and have a spare.
A little bit of "Bling" never hurt anybody. 8)
Oz never gave nothing to the Tin Man, that he didn't already have.
Nathan at Straight Shot Gunsmithing does spiral fluting if you like that look.

That really makes the bolt look nice and is a nice touch like the old jeweled bolts in the past
If you just want to beautify your bolt on a budget you can jewel it with an electric drafting eraser and some jewelers rouge or with some pencils in a drill press and some jewelers rouge. It helps if you build a wooden jig to hold the bolt while working on it.
A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.
The bolt pictured by the OP isn't jeweled, its actually fluted. Jeweling just involves a patterened circular rough polish, but no matieral is removed. Fluting, like the picture, actually involves machining away material for the design.

Pacific tool is now offering fluted bolt bodys for Savages, I seen on their website.
