Long action will work fine. That way you have no limit on cartridge length.
Thinking of my second build. I want to build a .308. My question is, Would this action work? Stevens Model 200 - CF - Long Action - .473 Bolt Face. If not What would be a good caliber to build off of this?

Go for it, NO problems

A centerfeed long action will feed the 308 cases just fine, and the longer magwell opening allow you to seat those long bullets out farther.

What would be the advantage of a 6.5x55 over a .308?I'm not famiar with the 6.5. Looking for a round for hunting specific. Small as deer and up from there.
I would go with the .308 with a standard chamber. Brian Brown.
6.5 Swede has better long range energy, velocity and less drop than the 308 with comparable bullets.Originally Posted by put n the dog on
