The have been chambering the "classic" in 250 Savage for a while now.
I was talking with the owner of Savagegunsmithing today. He has been having Biweekly phone confrences with the CEO, engineers etc , working with them to improve the Savage guns that we get and the CEO mentioned that a little later this year, they will be chambering at least 2 Savage rifles in the 250 Savage cartridge. This is one of the good old one's, so you 250 Savage lovers, watch for the cartridge to be re introduced in the bolt action Savage rifles.
Now if he could just talk them into bringing back the 99.

In my opinion ... there's half the problem with the 250Savage. It's always made available in nostalgia format ... put it instead in a 12FV, 11 Lightweight, Stevens and in particular the 10 Predator.Originally Posted by Eric in NC
The Predator (Brush) with its 22" barrel I'd much rather a 250Savage then the louder 243Win/22-250 combination. Modernise and re-invent it as the true dual purpose cartridge.

Completely agree with you - I love my walnut and rust blue, but the 250 deserves wider use than that. Heck, a nice semi-auto sporter in 250 Savage would be a great all around gun.
I can't remember which model it will be, but think a Model 12 is one of them.

If you're nostalgic for .25 caliber rifles, why not the .257 Roberts? More potential than the .250 Savage without the (unneeded?) power of the .25-06 or, worse, the .257 Weatherby.Originally Posted by Eric in NC
I assume Savage chambers it because of the Savage name connection.
Possibly ... but its a lovely mild chambering ... fully the equal of the 6mm when handloaded.Originally Posted by Cycler
It'd be a strong statement to have Savage place it across the model range ... then support it fully with advertising.

I think the 250 is a great little cartridge, really like the AI version. Last year dad used it for an antelope, elk and a couple deer with 120gr interlocks at 2980fps. It's a deer slaying machine IMO!!!
I have a 250 Sav in a 24" sporter and it seems like it could be a lot of fun. It can on a gun I bought for the action and turned out to be a new barrel. Shot a few out of it but haven't really worked with it too much, seems like it will be a lot of fun (once I pick up another action to put it on).
