Here's some updated pics.
After I got everything filled in, filed, sanded, and smoothed, I needed to add more texture to the stock to somewhat match what was on it when I received it. I picked up some webbing spray to do the job. It works pretty well. Comes out like thin silly string almost. I then sprayed satin black over the webbing after it tacked up a bit since the webbing came out kinda glossy.

Here's a close up of the right side. You can see the notch just a bit if you look for it, but if you don't know it's there (or was there) you wouldn't notice. The webbing texture really helps hide it.

Here's a pic of the finished project. I think I may go back and hit the stock with some matte clear. It's a bit too shiny for me, even for a satin finish.
