I've shot 55 grainers with 4064 in every 220 Swift and 22/250 I've owned over the last 50 years and have never been dissapointed with the accuracy.

hey guys,
what i would like to do is narrow these three calibers down to one powder. I shoot 50gr vmax in the .22's and 70gr blitzking in the 243. I get to looking at all those numbers in the books and my eyes cross, lol. 4064, 414, varget, power pro 2000? The .22's have 26" barrels and the 243 has a 22" barrel. any help would be appreciated.

Add another vote for IMR 4064 Great in the Swift, good in the 22-250 and good in the 243 with 70g'ers
Been using 4064 with 40-55 gr bullets for years in my Swifts, accuracy and downrange performance always excellent.
Hi my personal preference for the 22-250 and the swift with 50g vmax's is 38gr of varget for both, and as far as they 243 with 70g pills I have had good consistency with 42gr of varget.
as always reloaders beware.
Thanks Dean

was leaning toward 4064 or varget, its just that varget gets tough to get at times
Here ya go IMR 4895 same recipes as varget and easy to find H4895 3% less powder in the same application.
reloaders beware

Can't speak for the 220 Swift, but in 22-250 and 243 Varget is my go-to powder. My #1 Choice in 243 and my #2 in 22-250 (but only because I have plenty of RL15 stocked up for the 22-250). RL15 has also done well when I have tried it in 243 with the lighter bullets. I would be running Varget in the 22-250 but when varget got scarce I stocked up on RL15 and it has been just as good to me.

Hey another good load for the 243 is 58gr vmax's with a healthy 45gr of varget, that will show those varmint's who's at the top of the food chain.

+1 with Scope Eye. Thats pretty much the load I am running in my 243AI. Shoots like a laser. Easy to get .5 MOA with it in mine. I know I could run it faster in the 243AI vs the 243, but 4000+ FPS is fast enough for me ;D.

Not that it is better then Varget, but 4064 is cheaper and easier to get. Varget seem to be the first to get scarce.

i went with Imr4064, made some 220 loads last night and gonna check them out today. 4064 is always on the shelf and when you live in small town usa availability is important.
Since your guy Carry's IMR when I can't get my hands on varget, I use IMR4895 and use the same load data as varget.

shot the 220 today. 39.3gr of imr4064 shot .3" groups @ 100yds at 4100fps. velocity bounced around a little until i fouled the barrel good. 4065-4125 but it finally settled down.
Sounds like you found the right combo. They're a hoot.
4064 is the stuff! I use it in my 22-250 and my 243.
.243 i use IMR-4350 @ 47.0grs and im using 70gr SMK and hitting 3700fps... no pressure in my remington 700
I read somewhere that Varget is basically short cut 4064.
i use benchmark in my 22-250,with 52 grain bullets, and 70 grain bullets in my 243,i have also used benchmark in 308 and to me nothing compares to it.
4064 would be my main choice, but I do have the others also.

Recently went to Cabela's. Saw they had the new Hodgdon Superformance powder. It has the load data for the 22-250, .243 and several other calibers on the label. So I bought a bottle to give it a try. Supposed to increase velocity by 200 feet per second, without increasing pressure. I will let you know how it works out.
Hey I hope it does work but I can't see how it will, it has the same burn rate as H4831 or win780 it seems that you will run out of case volume, at least with the lighter bullets maybe with the heavyest bullets available in that caliber it will shine in any case let us know.

Remember Powdervalley for your powders, get together and buy quantity and you can split the hazmat and shipping.Sometimes they offer free shipping or hazmat at times with certain powders.H380 is good for 22-250 and h4831 can be used in the .243.There is no powder that does it all for all rifles.I have never had any good luck with my remingtons with varget.Come to think of it,it hasnt worked in any of my rifles. It may work real well for others but not always.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!
Try this on for size
220 swift
AA2520 40 gr btips with 42.0 grains for 4477 FPS
I have been shooting it and it is very accurate.
Ruger 77 mkll 220 target.
I like to use varget because it's more consistent in different tempatures. The loads I work up in winter weather work the same when it's 90-100 outside. The 4064 loads just can't match the temp changes like the Varget does. Although 4064 does work better for me in my .243.
