If you want to really know for sure I would call them.
The mini 30 has a 308 bore but supposedly has a throat that will swage the bullet down.
I am confused as to wether or not the above stated rifle will shoot eastern block ammo which has a bullet Dia. of .312. What is the bore Dia. of the Savage 10FCM scout ?

Dont fall for the trash from russia or other eastern bloc countrys.Shoot known quality or reload.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!
308 bore is not really the problem for 7.62x39 ammo. I have two 7.62x39 bolt guns both have .308 bores. 1 rifle is Rem 789 and another is small ring mauser with Numrich barrel. Both shoot very well even with Wolf ammo. The 789 shoots Wolf as well as my Stevens 200 in .223 and Remington brass ammo. The Savage 10 FCM price tag is too high for 7.62x39 considering Rem 789 is only $389 when I bought it from CDNN. CZ is only around $550.
I too was wondering what the groove diameter was for the two Savage Rifles chambered in 7.62 x 39. I called Savage and their customer service rep refused to tell me.
???
If anyone on the forum has a factory Savage in this caliber and has slugged or miked the barrel, I'd also be extremely interested in knowing what the results were.
Thanks very much.

I am sure its 308.
Ask Fred at SSS. He probably knows.
Cant believe they would not tell you the bore.
when I called savage about 2 months ago I ws told .308.
It took a while, the gent who answered the phone had to go and find out... so I actually think/hope I was told the correct #

I called today and they did not tell me what it was. They didn't know. Seems like there is a big disconnect on their end for not knowing off hand. I plan to run a ton of surplus through my rifle so I'll keep the forum updated on how she runs.
There are other threads on this. Mine is .308 but I have shot Eastern block ammo through it with no difficulty.
Forget that Rusky ammo. Its garbage.
Side of the Barn accuracy for the most part.
I had one in an AR15. Thinking the same as you, IE cheap ammo etc.
Well the premium hunting ammo cost just as much as everything else, and I got so
frustrated with accuracy, I ended up buy Lapua brass for handloads so there goes the cheap ammo.
That round was designed for urban CQB.....100 - 200 yards effective range. After 200 it starts dropping like a brick. I use Milsurp Czech ammo in my Mini-30 all the time. Will shoot sub MOA @ 100 but once the barrel heats up it goes to 3 ". Still ok because it was designed to take on man sized targets up to 200 yards.
Thats incredie for a mini 30.
Peopl seem to be having relatively good success with certain kinds of surplus ammo. Supposedly the russian stuff is the best, with the sellier &bellot czech stuff in second, and polish surplus being the worst.
Its hard not to want to shoot the stuff when it averages about 20 cents a round. I can get about 6 inch groups with my sks, surely a modern bolt action like this should be able to shrink those down to under half.
According to CZ's website the 527 carbine is .311 bore.
