sure you can use a 6.5x55 in it, you might not be able to seat the really long bullets way out there if you want a repeater. You can fit a 260 rem in there too.
Can I use my short action with a swede? What about a 6.5 creedmore?

YOu really need a long action if your are making a repeater, no doubt about it. I am building 2 right now, one a medium sporter, the other light sporter. Bought a complete 30/06, pillar bedded factory stock with old 3 screw trigger for $225 out the door at my local gunshop. Hollar when you get your build done, I have some great load data for 6,5x55. It will outurn the Lapua round, just as accurate and lot longer barrel life than a .260.
The Creedmore would be perfect for your short action. The swede is best in either an Intermediate or Long action. As Sinman said, if you dont mind it being single shot or seating even light bullets VERY deeply you could do the swede on a short action. I have a swede and love it, mine is on a long action. I would advise the creedmore for the short action for sure, it is even a nice round!
Good Shooting,
Gary
skoger would you send me some reloading data? I have a 23" Shilen barreled gun and have everything ordered to build a 30" Brux barreled gun action going to SSS in mid December can't wait.
THANKS

Thanks for the advice. It will be a while before I buy another action so will have to concider one for short action. What about 6.5x47 laupa. I know the brass is alot better that 260. Isn't it very close to 6.5 creedmore.
6.5x47L is great and should be easily a repeater in a short action. With a 260 rem you can take 243 lapua or 308 lapua and make 260 brass too.
I have a 6.5x55AI and it ejects rounds with 120gr. NBT's and 130gr. Berger VLD's just fine. It is on a single shot target action so no feed issues to deal with.
