what have you tried so far?
Nothing says 308 caliber love like 165gr SGK's, or NBT's, and some H4350, or IMR 4350.
I am having trouble finding a good load for my custom 308. The barrel is a SSS Douglas barrel 27 inch. The primers I have available are CCI 200 Large rifle primers. R P brass been machined down to identical cass lenght. Gimme some loads please.
They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

how big are your current groups?
The bullets Im using are Hornady 150g SST.
I have tried IMR 4064, 3031, 4895.
4895 at 45.1g yielded best results with a group about the size of a quarter at 100 meters. I don't have any right now, nor have I tried it with the primers I have.
What loads do you have for IMR 4350?

I gave up on that bullet. 165-178 seems to be the range for both of my 308s.

Try a 168gr match bullet and 44-45 grains of varget
Win 760 has been VERY good in the accuracy department and a touch faster than Varget....and a ball powder to boot!

Try RL15 @ around 42 grains and the 168 SMK or for hunting the 165 Gameking. For hunting you might want to up the grains a little bit at a time checking for pressure signs, as the 42 grain load is not hot in my gun, but has given the best accuracy so far. Turns out it is Sierra's accuracy load too. (They use savage barrels for load testing). RL15 is a great powder in my 6br, 6brx, and I hear good in a .204 as well.

I use Lapua brass and CCIBR primers.
People say why don't you shoot 5 shot groups instead of 3 shot groups?
I tell them they are 5 shot groups.

Ditto: 42.2 gr. RL-15, 168 SMK, CCI LR, Win. brass, COAL = 2.791 (for 0.015" off) yields 0.5 MOA or better (200 yards), so long as I don't shoot too fast.Originally Posted by ThorBird
