Anything that takes the advancement of Savage rifles to a newer (or different) level, I say go for it!
I think you could have success if you were to develop your idea.
I was wondering if there is a need for a high capacity 223 magazine for the Savage rifles. I have an idea that should work on making a 10rd and maybe 20rd or so mag for the Savage rifles. If it works the way I am thinking I should be able to offer it for ~$80 for the conversion kit and mags would run ~$20. Let me know what you guys and gals think. thanks

if it works I might be able to do it to remingtons, rugers, howa/vangurads, and so on. I also have an idea behind the 308 size cases too.
Never saw any need for a high cap mag on a bolt gun but that is me.
If you do one, it would be much better if you did it with AR mags (like some folks on here have done 308s with M14 mags) - keeps cost down and makes sure you can get replacements from a number of sources.
I think it is a great idea. Especially for prairie doggin'.
It would make a great match to my water cooled rifle project. And I was thinking ar15 mags for the 223 and ar10 for the 08 cases.
I like the idea of 10rnd mags, there is nothing like running out of ammo in the gun when trying to work over a dog town.
I have been looking at working the AR mag into a savage, but would buy a conversion for $80.00 in a hartbeat rather than doing it myself.
My brain is drawing up a plan, maybe in a week or two I can get a prototype ready.
If you build it..... we'll all buy it! I'd love to be able to use an AR mag in a Savage 223. That would be as good as it gets in my book. If it meant buying a new rifle just for that feature, then I'd have to suck it up and buy a new rifle. I love the idea. Get it done.Originally Posted by sinman
Devin,
Are you going to build it for stagger feed or center feed?
Never kick a fresh turd on a hot day- Harry Truman
I will start with the center feed because most of those have stocks or are able to have stocks with a floor plate so my kit would mean unscrew floor plate screw on my kit, insert mag, take down a raging pdog
Would order one myself for the center feed.
Would like 10rd detachable for .243, 110 LH.
I better pick up a new centerfeed 223 so I can prototype it.
I would be in for one. Problem is I have a Stevens 200 whch is basically a pre accutrigger Savage.
Thanks
