A travesty of law from the judge

Judge Sentences NYC Man to 10 Years for Gunsmithing After Saying 2nd Amendment 'Nonexistent' in Courtroom

Dexter Taylor, a Brooklyn-based software engineer, has been sentenced to a decade in prison for building firearms in his home using parts purchased legally. He was arrested after a SWAT raid in 2022, and a jury convicted him of 13 counts last month. Now, he is set to spend up to ten years behind bars for what many perceive as an egregious violation of his Second Amendment rights.

The sentence was handed down on Monday by Judge Abena Darkeh, who presided over Taylor’s trial. The judge’s handling of the case has been criticized, especially her decision to prohibit mention of the Second Amendment in the courtroom during the trial. In a previous interview, Vinoo Varghese, Taylor’s lawyer, described how Darkeh approached the Second Amendment issue.
“She told us, ‘Do not bring the Second Amendment into this courtroom. It doesn’t exist here. So you can’t argue Second Amendment. This is New York.’”

Apparently she decided that the 1st Amendment "doesn't exist here" also. But that is to be expected "gag orders" are the thing now.

But this kind of thing could not happen to one of us right?

What is happening in NY is happening other places also. In New Mexico the right to keep and bear arms is now subject to an FBI background check plus a 7 day waiting period! Also the interpretation of the 2nd by "them"...cant' be political...is that was for an Army. Isn't it odd that an Amendment would be necessary to allow the Army to keep and bear arms?

All from people who swore an oath to the constitution. Be careful of which side you blame. All of this came from a conservative SCOTUS judge who could have voted the other way as a tie breaker.

They are all our enemy if the can be bought by special interest.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

New Mexico's new "gun control" debacle from "the round house" is being challenged in court. Guess we will see where that goes. You believing a 7 day waiting period even after you submit the form and pass the phone call? Can hear the gangers in South Valley of Albuquerque laughing all the way to my place 150 miles away!

Kind of off subject however I feel its important.

20 years ago I went to buy a rifle from SHEELS. The FBI system was down and after three days of not be available. I asked for the gun sale. SHEELS refused stating their attorneys advised them to wait. So SHEELS decided not to honor the law! I have no bought anything from them since in fact I refuse to go into that store despite they are one of the few that stock a good supply of some reloading supplies and their gun prices are reasonable.

The issue is in this liberal state of affairs our laws are failing. Failing because the root law is never abided buy.
