I acquired this rifle today and it was it pretty bad shape so I took it apart and cleaned and adjusted things for it to function correctly but I’ve never seen one quite like it so can someone here please tell me what model I have here. It’s a 25-06 (which is my favorite caliber) and has a big bolt handle. The barrel is heavy and spiral fluted (this is what is idd to me) it has the old style plastic stock and an Accutrigger. Any help would be welcome.
Picture would help. Both the bolt handle & spiral fluted barrel could be aftermarket. (And sounds like it is) Is it a Top Bolt Release, (TBR)? The only factory 110 I’ve known with a Spiral fluted barrel was the 110 High Country. But it wasn’t available in 25-06 and also came in a like Green/Brown Cerakote.
We really need pictures. Use https://imgbb.com/ Upload your picture and once done, click the photo. Then copy the BBCode link & paste it in your response.
Spiral fluted barrel is most likely aftermarket.
I have a 110FP in 25-06 from the late 90s early 2000s that came with a heavy barrel, oversized bolt handle, and old style pillar bedded synthetic stock.
Could very well be one somebody built the way they wanted as the majority of Model 110 parts are interchangable and even more so in that time period.
A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.
If it is a Savage barrel it will be stamped on the side Mine have the chambering and model number.
The P in FP does not mean it was made for a police department. It was just a configuration description. Like calling a model "Tactical" or "Scout".
Think you meant to respond in this thread with that last part. https://www.savageshooters.com/showt...cal-feed-issue
Although, according to this article, P can mean Police. Though I don’t believe it does in FP as you stated. https://www.savageshooters.com/conte...?262-Savage...
Thanks Dave. I got cross threaded :)
Figured… done the same thing time or twelve!
Its. Savage stamped barrel. It’s in 25-06 and it appears to be stock.(other than the fluting) it’s 4 flutes 1/4 twist on the barrel. I can’t seem to get the photo option to work. It’ll shoot an inch with American Whitetail ammo so I’m sure it’ll do well under with better ammo.
Don't know if it helps but:
My 2008 10 FP was a Law Enforcement model with an internal mag.
My 2010 10 FCP-K was a Law Enforcement model with a detachable mag (the C designator) and a muzzle brake (the K designator).
I always assumed that the P designator stood for Police.
The F designator was used on a wide variety of model 10 and Model 110s at the time so I don't know what it might have designated.
Fixed it. Need to use the BBCode link.
Man! I’ve never seen one of those. Maybe a proprietary sold through one of the chain stores, I’m thinking. Hopefully Jim sees this. He probably knows by sight. Shoot, he likely has the ADD for them from wherever they were sold, LOL! Or, custom work? The Bolt Handle looks like older model. And maybe those flutes were machined after?
Oh and of course the stock was solid black. The camo is my handy work lol.
In the first pic the bluing on the barrel is different where the fluting starts. Almost like it was a redone after the factory barrel was fluted.
The bolthandle and the barrel fluting do not look like anything factory I have ever seen. For that reason it looks to me like a factory 110FP that had the custom work done to it by an unknown gunsmith. Pretty much exactly what BHJ’s thoughts were in his earlier post.
The bluing unfortunately isn’t in good shape and looks like there may be what looks like black paint on the barrel.

It’s not quite the same. It’s a “G” serial number if that helps any.

Ahh, yeah, that’s a better picture of it. Well, it’s still definitely an aftermarket Bolt Handle.
It’s more like a Stockade Bolt Handle. But not quite it either. http://www.stockadegunstocks.com/res...dles_large.jpg
Hopefully someone that knows more will see this thread.
Yes, 110FP. Like the picture. That’s definitely it. Whoever owned it in the past just did the barrel fluting and got that bolt handle.
