Could be 5/8-24
I am trying to replace the factory on/off muzzle brake with a suppressor. It is a direct threaded one with 5/8-24 threads. Problem is, the barrel isn’t a 5/8-16, nor is it a 9/16-24. It almost looks like a tapered pipe thread, but am not sure. I bought an adapter that won’t work now, anyone know what thread it is? It’s a fluted SS barrel in 300 WM. TIA!
Could be 5/8-24
The standard is 5/8-24 (maybe that's what you meant instead of 5/8-16). I would buy a set of thread gauges.... not expensive at all and you will end up using them more than you think. A picture would help.
But once you figure it out you will still want to be careful and double check..... run a rod down the barrel and make sure that it does not contact your suppressor because baffle strikes suck-- and I have seen some factory barrels that worked fine with a brake but would cause issues on a can. Good luck.
Here ya go... factory adjustable brake is 9/16" X 28TPI . Link to thread below also has a link to disassembly etc.
