Actually, Savage has used 9/16-24 as well. Is the threading too large or too small? 5/8” is .625”. 9/16” is .5625” Do you a Calipers to measure? You’d be able to tell right away.

I just purchased an Axis 308 with a 20” heavy barrel from one of the gun trading websites here in Canada in new unused condition. It has the old style stock, but it has the accutrigger.
When I went to thread on a 5/8 x 24 brake, it wouldn’t fit..
Can anyone confirm, Did savage use an 11/16 x 24 thread pitch on these? And if so why?

yea, even some inexpensive ones will get you close enough, as long as they are damaged.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
