There's some nice figuring in that stock. I'll be watching.
Decided to start a new thread for this project.
Mounted 6.5x55 barrel and fitted a new very rough stock.
Stock is currently configured for target shooting with a wide forestock, will be converted to a sporter style
Had to inlet a walnut plug since it was setup for a flat floorplate. inletting is better than it looks, still need to sand off some excess.
Looks like it may have some decent figure. $38 well spent.
More to follow. This weekend pillar bedding, final sanding and 1st coat of Tung Oil. Yes my bench is currently messy.
There's some nice figuring in that stock. I'll be watching.
Looking good. Very interested to see further.
Tagging along.
Gonna look real nice when it’s finished! Nice work!
Very nice. A year ago I purchased a Richards Microfit for my model 11 Savage. After months of work sanding, fitting and finishing I had taken it outside to take some pictures of it and set to up against the rail of my deck and went to get the camera. Just as I turned to set it up for the pictures a gust of wind kicked up and blew it over. It fell thru the tails 5' onto a concrete slab and it was done. Cracked completely thru the side from the bolt handle cut out to the mag well cut out. Also from the mag cut out to the trigger cut out and right thru the pillar. I was surely heart broken.
Applied first coat last night mixed 50/50 with mineral spirits. That stock was really dry. Amazed at how much it absorbed. Another coat tonight and then start with 400 and then 600 wet dry paper.
Stock shows good figure. Not bad for a $38 Numrich stock. I may order a spare. Of course no guarantee that all of their stocks look like this.
Is this your first Mircrofit? I have been considering one of theirs for a while.
That will be very nice when finished!!
Thats not a Microfit, thats a $38 Numrich Gun Parts stock. Unlike Richard's Microfit, this one is only about 80% inletted. There is a lot of sanding and scraping to be done to make it look like that. Especially in the barrel channel. I drool over the Microfit sporter rollover. Some day I will have one.
Richard’s aren’t much more than 80%…lol actually on mine the inletting was pretty good, but the rest of it was very rough. Seeing your initial pics of this stock reminded me of it!
I'd actually rather have a less than perfect fit anyway.
I have 2 of those $38 Numrich stocks and both are high figure. If I recall they may be old Bishop stocks.
