Should be 6-48
Got a new Savage 110 Hunter .223 coming.
I need a rail for it.
However, not sure which mount to order because there is apparently 2 sizes of screws these days for the Savages.
6-48 and 8-40
Anyone able to help?

Should be 6-48
Should be, yes… However,
I recommend you do the smart thing: wait until you have it and can measure. You’ll know 100% at that point. No absolute list has been compiled, and even then I wouldn’t trust it. Almost seems like Savage just flips a coin for which size to machine, LOL! Resist the urge of impatience… wait until you can measure & be certain.
One of my young in-laws bought an Axis .25-06 last spring. The shop sold him the bases with the old screw size. I called Savage and the tech lady said they had changed "some models" to the larger thread size. I don't know what some models entails.
I've bought two rails in the last year, one came with two different size screws, the other didn't. The one that didn't come with two sets of screws came with the wrong ones for my rifle even though the rail said it was for an Axis. Go figure.
So I call Savage and was told all the 110's since 2020 are drilled 8-40
I ordered the EWG Hunter rail.
It comes with 6-48 and 8-40 screws.

Well it appears the Savage people don't know screw sizes.
They said all 110's since 2020 are tapped 8x40.
I just installed bases on two new 110's of different models and both are 6x48
Good thing I ordered EGW bases with both scew sizes.
Failure is not an option
Like I said. Always better to wait.
