Bolt head for the appropriate case. Unless moving to a cartridge that uses the same case head.
If I would change to a different caliber in my 22-250 what would I need besides a barrel? I know it has to be another short action round and in addition to the barrel, probably a change with the feed mechanism, correct? It is a model 12.
I see now that this is in the wrong forum, should be in the 110 forum but I see no way to delete a post and I believe anything that works on the 110 for a barrel change would apply to the Axis.

What caliber is it currently?
^^^22-250. I may be wrong but I think I have a long list of calibers the bolt head would work for but they have to be for a short action. I am not sure what I would change to. I thought the 6.5 Creedmoor was just an overblown fad but it actually does have quite a lot of good features so that is one under consideration. Moderate recoil is a big plus, along with fairly good barrel life. I simply do not like shooting heavy recoiling rifles.
Here’s a Database for calibers sharing Bolt Face diameters.

And it will fit either Short or Long Action with little fuss.
