The same things you would do to improve ANY rifle’s trigger. Simple spring replacement and polishing to a complete custom trigger job as I perform. Or of course, replacing the unit entirely with an aftermarket trigger.
What can be done to improve the trigger on these Savage Trophy package rifles?

I guess I was hoping to put in one of the trigger upgrades out there….do they fit?
Yes. Just find one made for that action. Pay attention to the location of the safety.
If you like the Accutrigger style you could find a varmint or target trigger assembly.
After a full year of bench work, I will highly recommend The Rifle Basix Savage 2 trigger.
It has a range of 4 ounces to 3 lbs. Second would be a Timney if you don't have the target
Accu Trigger.

I’d just try replacing the standard Accutrigger spring with a Target/Varmint Accutrigger spring. That should get you down close to 1.5#. They can be purchased from Gun Shack. If you need to go lower, then a Savage 2 Rifle Basic trigger trigger may be the way to go.
Just curious. Is the only difference between the three Accutriggers the spring?
Mostly, but just a couple differences...most notably the wear. Here are part numbers between the three.

This isn’t an accutrigger.
You didn’t specify in the beginning. Most people tend to think this is a newer purchase you’ve made, and by reason therefor, equipped with the Accutrigger. That’s all. Why don’t you tell us exactly what you have and what you’re looking for in trigger performance? Or, like so many, are you simply compelled to replace the trigger?
