I am toying with the idea of screwing a fast twist Shilen barrel in 6.5 PRC into a Savage model 12 Single shot target short action. I know that I will need to change the bolt face. Since it is a single shot -solid bottom- I can’t imagine there will be any issues as far as cartridge overall length with heavy for caliber bullets like there would be under the right circumstances with a magazine, is that a correct assumption?
Are there any potential issues that I am overlooking?
Am hoping to shoot the 150 odd grain Berger bullets for hunting.

BTW, I’d recommend checking out Bugholes. They offer Brux and Bartlein drop ins in the more popular profiles like Palma & M24. They use their own barrel nut to accommodate these.
