Nice lookin "old timer". What caliber?
This is my new to me rifle, no idea how many owners or any of the history other than the owner that sold it to me. I did find the (11K) on the barrel but not the action. As yall can see the front action screw is WAY to long, I am trying to find a correct one, counter sink straight blade screw. The stock that is mounted now is a correct stock, I do not have the bottom metal yet. The other stock does not have the barrel swell in it. Going to be a fun project to complete.

Someone put the bolt handle on the wrong side.
I have my dad's 110l in 30.06 from 1963 Montgomery Wards in Albuquerque. The bolt handle is on the proper side for a rifle.
Left. Still have his original receipt, $109.99.

Left handed, right mind.

I picked up a 3rd stock, does not have the barrel swell, but did come with the follower for the mag. Had to do some fitting to get the follower to slide easy all the way to the top. Waiting on the bottom metal to come in from Numrich, should be here on Monday. Picked up some screws from a bolt supply house, black and counter sunk. Will have too make the head smaller, not an issue.
Will add that I have done a little work on getting an idea of the chamber and how far to seat a boolit. Looks like 3.2 to 3.4 depending on what boolit I use.

The bottom metal came in, now my new screw is to short, O well. The hunt starts again.
RED333 nice vintage 110L you have there. I have two 110L one in .308 and .243. The .243 is a plain barrel no sights. I was told the plain barrel is rare for that era. I just got the .243 last fall. The original barrel swell stock is broke just rearward of the action in two pieces. I think it could be glued together and two hex head wood screws screwed in from the bottom would hold it together. It would be functional but not pretty. I'd like to find an original L/H stock like you have. Been searching but can't find one. Let me know if you know where I might be able to get one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Savage uses 1/4X28. You can get different lengths at ACE Hardware.

Pro MOD, thanks, I lucked up on the stock. Now the rest of the story. The barreled action came up for sale. A friend of mine, also a correct handed shooter, was "looking" for a stock before buying the action. I step in and buy the action. Now I did not know my friend was "wanting" the action till after my deal went good. He texts me and let me know about what was going on, I did offer to back out of my deal, he would have none of it, great friend he is. He had found the stock but did not buy because I got the deal on the action. So he sets me up with seller of the stock and the rest is history.
Well I bit the bullet and cut the OEM screw, now it fits correct. I still have to refinish the stock, clean up, redo some of the checkering. Then reassemble the rifle, bed the action in the stock. Work up a good load and shoot the mess out of my 'New to me rifle".
Hey RED333 thanks for the response. Glad the OEM screw fits for ya. I have checked with Richards Stocks out in California. They have a stock for our L/H 110's. It would be the closest stock to an original. It is not notched out for the barrel swell. I guess it can be done though after you buy the stock. I'm probably going to go that route. They told me about twelve weeks after I order it.
I have a LH Browning A bolt in 7mm Rem Mag with a Microfit thumb hole stock. Richards in a good company, and yes 8 weeks is the same thing I was told.
Look here, some of what I have found.

I striped the OEM stock, after the finish was removed and I wet the wood it was BLACK. Then turned to a nice brown when dry. rubbed the wood with fine steel wool to get a very smooth finish. I did not try to repair any of the checkering as some of the diamond tops are missing. I do not think I could raise the tops and I was worried I would mess up the good checkering that is left. On top of that I do not have the tools to take on the job. This is the first coat of tung oil and after letting it sit for a bit I rubbed the stock to rub in the oil. I am more fond of a matte finish than a shinny finish

Slow down, life is to short to hurry to the end!!!
You guys are killing me with your old 110's. Nice rifle RED.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
Man, that is a handsome rifle. Nearly as handsome as my vintage 110. :D
I love my newer Savages but damn the old ones had the looks. Enjoy yours!
