You DO NOT need to remove the extractor to set the head space.
(as long as the case head you're swapping to is the same size as what you have now)
The extractor will snap over the case rim and hold it against the bolt head.
Same with the firing pin. The bolt is "cocked" and the firing pin is below the bolt head surface.
If you take that bolt apart, remember how to put it back together.
I have taken LOTS of Savage bolts apart with no issues, till I did the # on my lefty bolt.
Couldn't see the forest for the trees and ended up shipping it off to SSS to get it put back together, the "right way".
