I bought my first 264 Win Mag (a Savage 110LH with a 26" Apex barrel) in 1967 and killed 5 mule deer with it that year. I have used nothing since to make me want to change.

.
Have y'all decided which is the best 6.5mm yet ?
Know that JCalhoun is still promoting the 6.5 x 284 as the one and only.
Wonder if there are any dissenting opinions.

Hammer,
How many different 6.5's do you own? Care to share which one you think is best?
I have only shot one, a 6.5x55AI but see no reason to have any other 6.5. I am a bit prejudice however since it saved my son and I from several bull prairie dog attacks.
.
Don't really have that many 6.5 s.
Think there is a
6.5mm BR
260 Rem
6.5 x 55 Swede
6.5 x 06
6.5mm Rem Mag
264 Win Mag
6.5 x 300 Wby
Have several barrels of each with different contours and lengths.
The 6.5 x 55 Swede is the classic of them all.
Guess the 260 Rem may be the best target rifle.
The 264 Win Mag with 140 Nosler Partitions from a 30-inch barrel does alright on bull prairie dogs at short range.
Like faster, tighter twist than most of y'all. Something like 7-inch.
Like the heavier bullets.

All I have is the 6.5x284, it works for me out to 1,000 yards but I haven't done any long range shooting with it yet.

One rifle, one planet, Holland's 375
.260AI is the righteous way to go. The 6.5-284 led me astray for a while but I found the light again.
I like the 6.5x55 and 6.5-06AI. Agree on the heavier bullets too.
