The reason a 2 3/4” shell chambers OK is that chamber depth MIGHT accept FIRED shells of 2 3/4”. (Measure the length of your UNFIRED 2 3/4” shells and you will see they are a good deal SHORTER than 2 3/4”! Likewise, measure the length of your FIRED 2 3/4” shells, and you will see they are just shy of 2 3/4”!)

Your friend is correct when he says, “This was normal.”

Chambers are NOT impossible to measure . . . .You just need the proper gage!

Actually, on a gun that old, I’m thinking your chambers are NOT set up for 2 3/4”!
