I say do not coat bolt head. I’ve seen them painted but I think it’s a poor choice. The baffle doesn’t matter, but locking lugs of bolt do.
I plan on Duracoating a Savage Hog Hunter in 6.5 CM and I was wondering if, when I spray the bolt body, should I refrain from spraying the bolt head in order to not
mess up the lug contact surface?
Thanks,
Brian

You could always mask the lug contact area. Tear the bolt down and spray all parts separate.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
It sounds like the best method would be to disassemble the bolt and not spray the bolt head.
That seemed to be the most logical approach, but I wanted to see what the more experienced folks thought.
Thanks,
Brian
I’ve painted bolts before and ultimately, I wouldn’t do it again. Eventually shows a lot of wear
