If it's a bolt action it's not an 1895 and the 1895 lever action was never chambered in .250-3000. It's probably a 1920 or something similar, post pictures if you can, that would help.

I was recently passed down a Savage bolt action .250-3000. S/N 1511. Looking for assistance in determining its authenticity. From what I can research it's a model 1895, based upon the S/N. I took it to a dealer to inquire and they cannot find anything on it. Can anyone provide any further information or direct me to some help?

I went to the URL you added and comparing those guns to what I have, they're exactly alike. The S/N on mine is what had me doing. It's a 1920, thanks for your help!
That's a fine old rifle, wish I could find one!! If you plug the ser# in the this site: http://www.savage99.com/savage99_dates.htm it may mess you up 'cause it's only for 95's and 1899's, 99's.
