I played with that concept. It does control the noise better, but it negates everything that the brake does......kinda pointless.

I would be happy if the brake was half as effective and noise was the same as a bare muzzle. I might have to mess around with one. Thanks for the reply.
lol intuitively backwards.
would be good on an ar pistol no flash burn
Seems more like the MG42 muzzle recoil booster than a brake, if it's unable to direct the gas backwards. Maybe just wear closed eye pro if you're getting blasted? :)
I have two. Both came off of ebay for about $20-30. Look to be the exact same thing you have in the link. One is on a 22-250 AI. Just put about 300 rounds through it on a prairie dog trip. Works perfectly. I can not tell a difference in recoil and I have two identical 22-250s. The other one has a regular brake. I was able to spot shots just as easy with the can brake as the regular brake. The other one was on my 6.5 WSM. I could tell a very slight difference in felt recoil with the can on vs can off. I am impressed by them. I would not pay that price for them unless they were steel. Mine are aluminum but work great so far.
I've shot a pretty good number of brakes in the last few years. I've really enjoyed the Muscle Brake from Piercision Rifles. I run the 5 port self timing version on my 6.5x47. The first port is 90* and the rest are angled. There's a huge difference in the level of concussion felt by the shooter. Recoil reduction is also top notch.
anyone care to comment on can on and off accuracy? Don't care about recoil as much a reducing the muzzle blast when hunting and not wearing ear protection. For the most part I dislike brakes, and the increased noise that comes with them.
I have had some rifles that would change zero anywhere from 1-3" and others it does not make a difference brake on or off.
