Beautiful looking little rifle...hope we can how it shoots!
This appear to be the 18th unit off the line from the 200000 to 210000 serial range guns. Two little scratches knock it down to 98%. Otherwise, it looks unused except for some bolt cycling. Internals still with grease.
These (Savage) Stevens Model 416 Target training rifles were contracted to the US Gov't from 1941-1943, with just over 10,000 produced. It has the original blue finish and sights, no re-arsenal or other changes. Not many still in this condition.
Pics, enjoy, and thanks for looking.

Sweet old rifle!! Bet it's a shooter, too!! I love old .22's!!
Thanks guys.
With the bull barrel, I bet it would shoot great. But as I am a collector first, this one will remain with its factory grease. There cannot be too many of these left in unfired (since testing) condition.
Thats a beauty.
The military only paid $17.98 per rifle.
Savage- "never say never".
