I received the rifle today. Three things, right off the bat, all of which are obvious in the photo:

  1. This is an Accu-stock equipped rifle with a top bolt release. I expected a bottom bolt release. This doesn't really bother me.
  2. The barrel was advertised as fluted. It is not. This bothers me a bit. This rifle is pretty nose-heavy.
  3. When I called Savage with the serial number, they assured me that the rifle left the factory with a 0 MOA rail. This has a 20 MOA rail. That's great... except I already purchased a 20 MOA rail based on what Savage told me.

I installed a Caldwell XLA bipod I had sitting around. I expected to pick my stock pack out of the mailbox today because it's showing as delivered... but it wasn't there. So now I have to chase that around. Thanks USPS.

Off to a slow start... but at least on Monday I'll be able to get my thread protector out to Mr. Schuler to get a muzzle brake started.
