What exactly is it doing?
Just bought a couple Mark II and have a really hard time with them ejecting CCI sv. Anybody else have this problem and if so how did you fix the problem?
What exactly is it doing?

It’s not pulling the hulls from the chamber.
When end I go and get them out they are not that tight. Not sure wether it’s a chamber issue or a bolt issue.
Common issue on these rifles. Basically the spring steel clip that holds the extractors in the bolt has gotten weak. What you need is #9 in this schematic at the link below. Some guys have had good luck doubling them up. You might also call Savage, they might just send you a couple replacements for free.

Note: This says for Lakefield, but it's the same exact design (Savage bought Lakefield in the 1990's).

Did you buy your Mark II's brand new or used?
I completely solved the same issue in my mk ll fvsr by adding a touch of extra lube to the bullets. Not 1 single failure to eject since I started and absolutely no detrimental side effects on accuracy. In fact, I would almost say it helped ever so slightly. No need for any extra cleaning. I have found only upsides to doing it. It takes a few seconds per 50 round box.

I had the same problem develop with my Mark II after about 750 rounds. Thank you for the info on fixing this. I ordered a few of the clips the other day. My rifle only exhibits this problem with CCI standard velocity which was a bummer since it seems to prefer this ammo. Does this crop up mainly with CCI rimfire ammo or does it occur across a variety brands?
Mine is mostly Aguila but every now and then CCI. I am now almost 500 rounds failure free.
