You got lucky then. Most 17's tend to be fairly fickle when it comes to ammo preference.
currently shooting a 93R17 and have seen no notable difference between the 17 and 20 grain bullets in several brands. Anyone having similar results? seems to shoot all quality ammo relatively the same, regardless of brand and weight.

Rimfire ammo is rimfire ammo. I've got a 93r17 as well, it seems to like the 17g a bit better than the 20g stuff so far but I've got less than 200 rds down range so far. I've had numerous split/stuck cases with Winchester ammo so will avoid that brand going forward. Have some CCI to try next.
winchester shot the worst in mine. Hornady and CCI in either 17 or 20 did best
